7100 Nano™ Packet Optical Transport Platform Compact, Flexible, and Future-proof Packet Optical Transport for the Metro Confronted with unpredictable traffic requirements, increasing bandwidth demands, and changing applications, network operators rely on the highly flexible capabilities of the widely deployed Coriant® 7100 Nano™ Packet Optical Transport Platform to respond to these conditions. Offering a future-proof 5RU platform for metro-regional transport, the 7100 Nano is a field-proven cornerstone of the Coriant metro transport solutions portfolio. Optical layer modules and a wide range of intelligent services modules, including high-density 10G and single slot 100G modules, can be installed in the six full size slots of the chassis with two half slots for controller cards. An AC powered version of the shelf optimized for data center environments and a DC powered version of the shelf are available. With configurations spanning from one to ten shelves in a single system, network operators can leverage the scalability of the 7100 Nano to address a wide range of applications

POWERING APPLICATIONS WITH MULTIPLE CONFIGURATIONS The 7100 Nano supports a broad range of applications including business Ethernet services, data center interconnect, mobile and fixed broadband backhaul, SAN and native video transport, private enterprise networks, and the migration of SONET/SDH rings to packet, OTN, or WDM. Each shelf provides fabricless switching of packet, OTN, and SONET/SDH with up to 1.2 Tbps of packet interface capacity and support for Ethernet Bridging, VLAN cross-connects, and MPLS-TP/VPLS. Optical layer options include ROADM-on-a-blade with support for up to 8 degrees and 88 channels, optional colorless and directionless add/drop, and the innovative Coriant® Pluggable Optical Layer. Enabling point-to-point, ring, chain, and mesh topologies, the 7100 Nano offers a variety of configuration options including:

■ White light packet, OTN, or SONET/SDH switch without WDM

■ WDM (CWDM or DWDM) with transponders, muxponders, and passive filters

■ Amplified DWDM systems with the Pluggable Optical Layer

■ Optical Line Amplifier (OLA)

■ Two degree ROADM with ROADM-on-a-blade

■ Multi-degree ROADM with packet, OTN, and SONET/SDH switching

■ Multi-degree ROADM with colorless/directionless add/drop and packet, OTN, and SONET/SDH switching

The 7100 Nano can address these applications either as a standalone solution or as part of an end-to-end solution with the Coriant® 7100 Pico™ Packet Optical Transport Platform, Coriant® 7090 Packet Transport Solutions, Coriant® hiT 7300 Multi-Haul Transport Platform, Coriant® mTera® Universal Transport Platform, and/or the Coriant Groove™ G30 DCI Platform. ENABLING HIGH-DENSITY 10G AND 100G WITH TRANSPONDERS AND MUXPONDERS/ ADMS Delivering high-density 10G and 100G, the 7100 Nano enables a wide range of client interfaces including Ethernet, SONET/SDH, OTN, Fibre Channel, and native video, from 155 Mbps to 100 Gbps leveraging transponder, muxponder, and ADM functionality. Up to forty-eight 10G transponders are supported in a single shelf with six high-density HDTG2 modules. The OMM-X module provides eight low speed SFP ports with support for Ethernet, SONET/SDH, OTN, Fibre Channel/FICON, native video, and anyrate interfaces up to 5 Gbps and two 10G/OTU2 XFP line interfaces. The OMM-X can be used as a single unprotected muxponder, a muxponder with line protection, a dual muxponder, or a 10G ADM with 40 Gbps OTN switching capacity. Two OMM-X modules can be paired via the backplane for redundancy. The 7100 Nano also supports up to six single slot 100G modules. Supported 100G transponders include the single slot HGTM-S with a CFP4 client and CFP line (coherent or grey), and the HGTM-S2 supporting a CFP4 client and a coherent CFP2-ACO line interface. Supported single slot muxponders include the single slot HGTM-MS with ten 8G/10G SFP+ clients and a CFP line, and the HGTM-MS2 with ten 8G/10G/16G SFP+ clients and a CFP2-ACO line. Two HGTM-MS2 modules can be paired via the backplane to form an ADM with two 100 Gbps line interfaces and 400 Gbps OTN switching capacity. Both the HGTM-S2 and HGTM-MS2 support ODU payload encryption. FABRICLESS SWITCHING FOR CARRIER ETHERNET, MPLS-TP, OTN, AND SONET/SDH The PSM-2C and PSM-2S packet switching modules provide fabricless packet switching for the 7100 Nano. The 200 Gbps PSM-2C supports one CFP interface with support for 100 GbE or OTU4, eight SFP+ ports with support for 10 GbE or OTU2, and two SFP/SFP+ ports with support for 10 GbE or 10/100/1000M Ethernet. The 200 Gbps PSM-2S supports sixteen SFP/SFP+ ports with support for 10 GbE or 10/100/1000M Ethernet, and 4 SFP+ ports with support for 10 GbE or OTU2. Fabricless switching via the meshed backplane enables an aggregate 1.2 Tbps of packet interface capacity. Software-defined protocol options include Ethernet Bridging, VLAN cross-connects, and MPLS-TP/VPLS. The OSM20 module supports 120 Gbps of OTN switching and provides two 10G XFP ports and sixteen SFP ports, while the SSM-X module supports 120G SONET/SDH switching with integrated packet grooming and provides two 10G XFP ports and twelve SFP ports. For SONET/ SDH ADM functionality, the SMTM-UX provides an additional cost-effective option with one 10G XFP port and ten SFP ports supporting paired operation via the backplane.
